Varberg’s SPA – the history of a seaside resort

Since pre-historic times, people have been traveling to hot or cold springs in hopes of effecting a cure of some ailment.

Today, the purpose of a spa-visit is often pleasure and recreation, and it is popular to go to a day spa for massage treatment. Varberg, Halland, has an unbroken health resort tradition dating back to 1811, when the well Svartekällan was bestowed official health spa status due to its iron-rich waters.

Watch this film to learn more about the tradition and present day practices in Varberg – Sweden’s health spa town.
